Choice Program Information

Shining Star Christian Schools are part of the Private School Choice Programs. The Private School Choice Programs include the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program, the Racine Parental Choice Program and the Wisconsin Parental Choice Program or statewide program.

Online Christian School Registration Process

1. Go to the DPI website – http://dpi.wi.gov/SMS/choice-programs
2. Complete the online enrollment form.
3. Check your email for a message from DPI informing you of which supporting documents you will need to provide Shining Star to complete the enrollment process.
4. Bring your supporting paperwork to the Shining Star office or scan to enroll@shiningstarschools.org.

Christian Online School Leadership

John Mattek serves as the CEO, has guided Shining Star since its beginning in 2013, and is now leading the expansion of our vision through the online Christian school.  John holds an MBA in Educational Leadership from MSOE and a Master of Divinity from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary.  He strives to cultivate educational equity by growing high-quality, faith-based schools where children can shine.

Ya-Ting Yang serves as the Instructional Technology Lead for Shining Star.  Ya-Ting is a recent graduate from the Columbia University Teachers College with an MA in Instructional Technology and Media.  She has great experience creating and facilitating personalized learning experiences for students with diverse backgrounds as an English teacher for Isoapple in New Jersey.  Ya-Ting will also serve as a resource for our in-person learning for best practices in virtual instruction and digital technologies.

Chuqee Fletcher will join the team as the Director of School Culture & Outreach. Chuqee will help us continue to build a supportive culture for our scholars, with a discipline policy that is research-based and effective in bringing out the best in our students. He will also work on building strong ties to our communities and partnerships with organizations that work with our students outside our walls. Chuqee has been the site director at Lighthouse Youth Center in Milwaukee since 2013 and has planned and implemented excellent youth programs for scholars in our community.
