Virtual School Leadership
John Mattek serves as the CEO, has guided Shining Star since its beginning in 2013, and is now leading the expansion of our vision through the virtual school. John holds an MBA in Educational Leadership from MSOE and a Master of Divinity from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary. He strives to cultivate educational equity by growing high-quality, faith-based schools where children can shine.
Barry Ludvik serves as the Virtual Learning Director for Shining Star. Barry has an extensive depth and breadth of experience and knowledge in instructional technology. He holds a Bachelor of Education from UW-Madison and a Master of Education from Cardinal Stritch, with licenses for Wisconsin Teaching, Instructional Technology Coordination, and School Administration. He has served as the Instructional Technology Coordinator for the Sheboygan Falls School District, Instructional Designer at Code to the Future (San Diego) and has been an Online Educator for the Wisconsin Virtual School for the past 18 years.
Ya-Ting Yang serves as the Instructional Technology Lead for Shining Star. Ya-Ting is a recent graduate from the Columbia University Teachers College with an MA in Instructional Technology and Media. She has great experience creating and facilitating personalized learning experiences for students with diverse backgrounds as an English teacher for Isoapple in New Jersey. Ya-Ting will also serve as a resource for our in-person learning for best practices in virtual instruction and digital technologies.
Stacy Bitter, our new Vice President of Academic Affairs, will lead our work to ensure our scholars build the academic skills they need to succeed at Shining Star and beyond. She will work closely with our talented principals to support and coach teachers, make the best use of our curriculum and materials and maintain our high, Christian academic standards. Stacy comes to Shining Star from St John’s Lutheran School in Milwaukee, where she most recently led curriculum and instruction work for the Cornerstone Lutheran Network of schools.
Chuqee Fletcher will join the team as the Director of School Culture & Outreach. Chuqee will help us continue to build a supportive culture for our scholars, with a discipline policy that is research-based and effective in bringing out the best in our students. He will also work on building strong ties to our communities and partnerships with organizations that work with our students outside our walls. Chuqee has been the site director at Lighthouse Youth Center in Milwaukee since 2013 and has planned and implemented excellent youth programs for scholars in our community.
